TeleMation Alumni Check in...
Gentlemen:
I just noticed your web site about TM and had to
drop you a line.  Enjoyed some of the things I remembered while working
for them.  I worked as a service tech and field engineer forTeleMation
Southwest here in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1969 to 1972.  I was working for a
Company called VESI that TM bought in 1969 and we became a
part of the TM group.  There were a lot of smaller companies about this
era that were bought by TM and its principal Lyle Keys.
We sold systems to schools, cable, industrial, and
broadcast for TeleMation.  Back in those days, we installed numerous
studios,
control rooms and all the terminal gear with it.  A lot of
the gear was TM, but we also sold Sony, IVC, Panasonic, Conrac, Bell &
Howell,  and others that slip my mind.  We used to install many of
the TeleMation Film Chains with the "Boat Anchor" IVC color cameras on them
and most of the Studio Cameras were the Sony DXC-5000 two
tube color cameras with the push-rod zoom/focus systems.
We also did some R & D work in Tulsa to retrofit
some of TM existing product.  One product I remember, was to retrofit the
Multicaster  for color operation, which was very useful in the small
studio operations and some remote trucks.
There are a lot of things about this company in
that day that were very innovative, a lot due to the genius of Ron Ward,
Director of R & D  in Salt Lake City.  Most everyone who left TM, became very
successful in their own business or whatever venture they chose.
Would love to hear from people interested in knowing
more about we did at TeleMation Southwest and especially the people who
put  in  their dues with the beige and brown TM.
