The Philips Electronics company has received all of the credit and a
patent for their work on the "philips color seporation prism." However: Work I performed in th late 1960's invalidated the "Philips
Patent." In the late 1960's I invented what I thought was a new & unique
internal airgap color seporation prism for color television.
I soon found out that Philips had alredy patented the idea and therefore
I could not receive another patent for this concept. However: I also
discovered that this same color seporation technique was first used in
the late 1800's with three sheets of B&W photographic plates for color
photography. This patent was missed when Philips did their patent
search and applied for their patent, thus: Philips was granted their
patent erroniously. I designed and used several "Philips" like color
seporation prism's in broadcast quality color television cameras during
the late 1960's and early 1970's while I worked at a company known as "TELEMATION." We never paid Philips a penny in royalties. Philips
legal dept. demanded royalties from us but when we showed them the late
1800's patent Philips dropped the suit.

Position at time of interview: HBO, Director of Special Projects and Promotions, Interviewer: E. Stratford Smith
...I was involved with one of the first weather machines in Great Falls, Montana with a company called Telemation run by Lyle Keys. Lyle had this neat little camera that would go back and forth. I was able to talk to Pacific Northwest- -I'm getting way ahead of myself on this one. We brought all the cable operators into Great Falls, Montana, which was a new system and we showed them at the same time this new Telemation unit. It was the first one operating on that system.
